When your day starts at 5AM, any time in and around the bedroom and bathroom is to be cherished. A long term fan of Parachute’s minimal aesthetic, Lara Mead was therefore thrilled to be invited to hand pick a few essential luxuries to savour the long evenings and early mornings spent in and around bed. Sharing the same values of function and quality as Varley, Parachute has created a name for itself with its chic colour coded cottons, soft alpaca, and quilted layers that work with most interior palettes. Choosing neutral colours, Lara’s selection is primed for moving from spring into summer. “I love being able to layer my bedding,” she says, “so that if we get too hot, I can throw off a quilt, and sleep just with a sheet.” Keeping it monochrome is an added bonus for guest rooms. “It’s so easy to mix and match, and I love the softness of a dark grey -never black!” What one essential would she never be without? “I know it’s a little obvious, but really, can you ever have enough fitted white sheets? There’s nothing nicer than getting into a bed that’s freshly made, and the fit on Parachute’s sheets takes out the hard work.”
1. Soft Rib Supreme Towel Bundle in White:
“I really value these Turkish cotton towels, which are super soft. There’s nothing more cosy and huggable than wrapping each child in them after a hot bath.”
2. Cloud Cotton Duvet Cover in White:
“These are great - a modern variation on the classic white bedlinen, I like the gauze effect of the cotton, and the buttons are easy to do up when it’s time for a linen change.”
3. Quilted Euro Sham Pillow:
“I’d like to imagine that one night, I’ll actually be found propped up in bed reading a good book, instead of falling asleep the minute my head touches the pillow. I love this quilted pillow in a dark grey - it’s super comfy.”
4. Cloud Cotton Euro Sham Pillow:
“In the same gauze finish as the duvet, I like the yin yang effect of complementary yet contrasting colours and textures.”
5. Linen Box Quilt
“Repeating the square stitching of the sham pillows, this dark grey coloured quilt is the perfect weight as we move into spring and summer - it’s heavier than a blanket but lighter than a duvet. I love it.”
6. Brushed Cotton Fitted Sheet
“The luxury of good quality cotton pared with the practicality of a sheet that fits snugly around the mattress - I’ve long been a fan of Parachute’s fitted sheets.”
7. Alpaca Boucle Throw
“This is the best accessory for those cold nights that take you by surprise. It’s a lightweight alpaca, soft enough as an over-blanket for the bed, or occasionally it makes its way to our sofa for Netflix nights.”
8. Classic Slippers
“I used to love the occasional spa visit with a group of girlfriends, and these soft grey slippers remind me of some of the best. Needless to say, they don’t stay in the bathroom and bedroom!”
9. Classic Bathrobe in Blush
“The prettiest shade of barely therepink, super-soft towelling, and deep pockets make this my new favourite robe.”
